Sunday mornings are supposed to be peaceful, right? A warm breakfast, everyone dressed in their Sunday best, soft worship music playing as you sip coffee and thank the Lord for a new day.
Yeah… that’s not usually how it goes.
In reality, Sunday mornings can feel like spiritual warfare in sweatpants. Someone can’t find their shoes (again), someone else suddenly hates the outfit you laid out, the dog chooses that exact moment to escape the yard, and you’re standing there wondering if skipping “just this once” would really be so bad.
But deep down—you know why it matters.
The Struggle Is Real
Getting kids to church isn’t easy. It takes effort, planning, and sometimes, sheer determination. There’s always resistance—from them, from you, from the chaos that seems to show up right around 8:00 a.m. every Sunday.
But it’s not just coincidence. I really believe the enemy works overtime on Sunday mornings because he knows what happens when families show up. He knows what a child learns when they sit in that Sunday School room and hear that they are loved by a God who made them. He knows what happens when a tired mom finds peace in worship. He knows what happens when a dad takes his kids’ hands and prays beside them.
He knows it changes things.
It’s Not About Perfection
Church doesn’t require your family to be perfect. You don’t need matching outfits or angelic behavior in the pews (though that would be nice). What matters is showing up.
Even if you’re late.
Even if your toddler throws a fit.
Even if you sit there feeling like you barely made it through the morning.
Because when your children see you prioritize faith—even when it’s hard—they learn that God is worth the effort. They learn that worship isn’t about convenience, it’s about commitment.
What They’ll Remember
Your kids may not remember every sermon. They might not remember the verses they colored in Sunday School. But they’ll remember that church was part of your rhythm. They’ll remember that every week, your family gathered with others to worship, pray, and learn together.
They’ll remember that even on the hard mornings, you chose to go.
And maybe, someday, when they have their own kids, they’ll be the ones wrestling tiny shoes and cereal bowls and sleepy attitudes on a Sunday morning—because they saw you do it.
So, Mama, Keep Going
It’s okay if you show up a little frazzled. It’s okay if your kids are squirmy and you forget the diaper bag or someone spills juice on the way out the door. You’re not failing—you’re fighting for something eternal.
So keep going.
Keep showing up.
Keep planting those seeds.
Because one day, those little eyes watching you now will understand that faith is worth the chaos of a Sunday morning.
A Little Behind-the-Scenes Update
Speaking of showing up at church—right now, I’m working on a special project for our congregation! I’ve been updating our church directory images, and it’s been such a blessing to capture the faces of families who make up our little community. It’s reminded me just how much beauty there is in faith lived out together—real people, real families, and real grace.
Once that project wraps up, I’ll be switching gears into branding and headshot mode right after Christmas. It’s one of my favorite creative seasons—helping other women step confidently into the new year with fresh, faith-rooted imagery that reflects their calling.
And I’m especially excited to announce my first event of the new year:
✨ Called & Captured — a day designed for Christian women in business, ministry, and creative work who want to show up boldly in their God-given purpose.
We’ll spend time capturing not just beautiful portraits, but the heart behind your calling—because you were made for more than just a photo. You were made to reflect His light.
More details coming soon… but trust me, you’ll want to mark your calendar.
